The lights go down and the excited chatter subsides as the audience turns toward the spotlight on the far side of the room. Suddenly an explosion of shouts and cheers erupts through the crowd as an energizing beat surges through the air and Brian Olsen charges onto the stage.
With his hands full of brushes, Mr. Olsen begins an engaging acrobatic performance--sometimes throwing the paint, sometimes strategically planting a paint saturated elbow on the canvas, or rapidly tapping a series of marks with his fingertips.
Brian Olsen's paintings of famous figures from world history to Hollywood are choreographed in an awesome auditory and visual performance on a huge canvas, taking the audience through surprise, hilarity, suspense, and finally awe at the breathtaking likeness in a matter of minutes.
Mr. Olsen began his performance art career as the one and only protégé of renowned performance artist, Denny Dent. He explains, "I have always been passionate about art and the energy it can release. My passion for painting, especially the challenge of portraits, grew from various roots--photography in Hawaii to landscape design in college. But it was Mr. Dent who put it all together for me. He taught me to use the SHOW part of the performance to drive home the real message of personal creativity. And, almost magically, letting the music and the audience drive the process to its dramatic conclusion."
Brian Olsen's unique art form is not only distinctively entertaining--his shows also expose the creative energy of the audience by drawing them in to the performance and challenging each and every person present to discover their own creative abilities.
