Mary O'Hara-Devereaux, Ph.D., is an internationally known strategy consultant, and futurist whose latest book, Navigating the Badlands Thriving in this Decade of Radical Transformation, prepares business and organizational leaders for what lies ahead and provides the tools to 'scan, scout, and steer' for opportunities as they emerge.
Dr. O'Hara-Devereaux specializes in long-term forecasting that is focused on helping executives make better decisions today and move fast to gain future advantage. She has developed her "cutting-edge" research and practical experience as a consultant in over 50 countries to Fortune 100 Companies, governments and leading non-profits and NGO'S. As the author of a number of books, she has been widely quoted in various media such as Bloomberg TV, Fox TV, CCTV-China, NPR, and the Wall Street Journal.
After ten years as a director at the Institute for the Future in California's Silicon Valley, Dr. O'Hara-Devereaux founded both Global Foresight, a company dedicated to helping organizations and leaders achieve continuous high performance during turbulent and uncertain business conditions; and the Center for the Future of China, an independent non-profit research center at Peking University located in Beijing, Peoples Republic of China. She has rich cross-industry experience in both the public and private sectors and with large and small enterprises, including consumer products, information and communication technology, biotechnology, financial services, health care, and manufacturing. Her clients include the American Society of Association Executives, CITIC-Pacific, Coca-Cola, Ericsson, Cable and Wireless, Chevron-Texaco, Leadership California, Procter & Gamble, Wells Fargo, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and various governmental agencies and institutes.
Currently a professor at Peking University, Dr. O'Hara-Devereaux has previously been on the faculty at the University of California, Davis, and the University of California, San Francisco, and a visiting faculty at a number of universities around the world.
