Speaking from his heart with passion and humor, he relives his story of triumph over adversity, of acting on every opportunity to make his greatest dreams a reality. In so doing he can show you how to wake up your dreams and realize the opportunities of a lifetime. Mr. Mensah was born in Ghana, West Africa, one of the most impoverished nations in the world. He was raised in a village where as a child he walked eight miles barefoot twice a day to carry firewood and water back to his family's home, which had no electricity or plumbing. When Albert Mensah was eight, his family moved to the city where he saw an American movie and witnessed the fantastic opportunities in this country. Getting to America became his dream, his passion and his goal. He did everything he could from "practically living at the library" to learn everything he could about America, to earning money for stamps to keep in touch with his American pen pals. His friends, aware of his obsession, soon gave him the nickname "States." In 1978, his dream came true when, after writing to over 350 U.S. schools, he won a full four-year scholarship to Western Maryland College. On August 29, 1994, another dream became reality when Mr. Mensah proudly took the oath of American citizenship. He entered the sales arena and quickly exceeded his sales quota. Within his first year, he was number one in sales, new market penetration, and total percentage gain within his company. He soon went on to become a successful business owner himself. His love of being with and in front of people led him to the speaker's platform and a host of awards. Albert Mensah is now a highly sought after, charismatic and talented speaker whose engaging stories inspire audiences to action, both in their personal and professional lives. Because of his own background sales expertise and business ownership, he understands companies' goals to increase morale and more importantly, productivity. Through his captivating presentation, he shows audiences how to recognize opportunities they might otherwise overlook, even seek out opportunities in change, challenges and other obstacles, their "fear snakes," then develop an action plan to act on those opportunities today. Albert Menseh is the author of two books: OK means Opportunity Knocking--Making the Most Out of Every Chance Encounter and When the Drumbeat Changes, Dance a Different Dance.
